Rapid growth and scheduling complexity
The Shiseido plant in Gien, which employs 250 people including 123 in the packaging sector, has experienced strong growth, doubling its business volume in just two years.
This rapid transformation made schedule management extremely complex, with each day requiring tedious Excel adjustments. The four division managers spent a considerable amount of time organizing the schedules, hampering the structure's agility and responsiveness.
In addition, the lack of centralized skills management made it difficult to allocate operators in the best possible way, and limited team development.
Why Shiseido called on Mercateam to digitalize its skills management
Faced with these challenges of agility and versatility in the packaging sector, Shiseido sought a solution to simplify day-to-day organization, improve skills management, and make processes more agile.
The aim was to replace the Excel tools with a digital solution capable of centralizing information and streamlining planning, while enabling division managers to view their teams' skills at a glance.
Mercateam meets these strategic needs, thanks in particular to its skills management and scheduling automation functionalities.
To bring this project to fruition, we worked closely with Shiseido's teams, mobilizing in particular the four division managers, the short-term coordinator, two administrative staff and the Human Resources manager.
How Mercateam simplifies know-how planning and management
Digital scheduling
Mercateam has replaced the 14 Excel files with a digital platform accessible in real time and displayed on screens in the field. Pole managers can now take advantage of optimized planning thanks to intelligent suggestions based on operators' skills and authorizations, considerably reducing the time spent on adjustments.
Skills mapping
A complete skills matrix has been integrated into Mercateam, centralizing the 2100 skills assigned to the 123 employees. This provides a clear and homogeneous view of skills, facilitating assignments and enhancing team performance.
